George Beeston was displaced from his Belgian homeland to Nuremberg in 1942 and was forced to work in a Siemens transformer factory. Shortly before Nuremberg was liberated by the US Army, Beeston established contact to a resistance group in the Johannisstraße. The group was plotting to overthrow the NSDAP to end the war.

However, the group was blown. Beeston managed to elude arrest and fled to the area of Straubing. He is a representative for many people who were displaced to Germany from all over Europe, and who risked their life to fight for freedom.
